Quick answer
- First 3 are free: the chest in the Resurrection Lab holds 3 Reanimation Liquids and 3 Bronze Zombie Collars (gk2db).
- Buy it: Gunter and the town Alchemist sell it (Wikily, gk2db, allthings.how).
- Brew it: research the Reanimation Liquid technology (30 red / 40 green / 50 blue tech points, gated behind Gunter), then mix ingredients worth exactly 2 red, 1 green and 4 blue runes at the laboratory — for example Clay + Alcohol + Salt (Wikily, Fextralife, allthings.how).
- Use it: one liquid per zombie, used up when you press Prepare on the Resurrection Table; the zombie rises when you use the Resurrection device on Envy day (gk2db, GK2Hub, Wikily).
Which technology unlocks Reanimation Liquid?
Not the plain Reanimation tech. Reanimation gives you the table and the first collar; the recipe for the liquid is its own technology, also called Reanimation Liquid, in the Anatomy and Alchemy branch (Wikily, Fextralife):
| Technology | Cost (R / G / B) | Requires | Unlocks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reanimation (hidden) | 30 / 10 / 10 | Alchemy, Distillation + Skull and Teeth; revealed by repairing the Resurrection device | Bronze Zombie Collar, Prayer for Storms, Resurrection Table I |
| Reanimation Liquid (hidden) | 30 / 40 / 50 | Battle Potions II + 20 reputation with Gunter; revealed by the quest The Ingenious Gentleman Don Keyote | Reanimation Liquid formula, Alcohol (Distillation Cube), Solution for Zombies (Formulation Bench) |
| Reanimation II | 0 / 0 / 100 | Reanimation Liquid | Golden ingot, Golden Zombie Collar, Hypno Prayer |
| Reanimation III | 0 / 0 / 300 | Embalming III | Steel Zombie Collar |
The Ingenious Gentleman Don Keyote is Gunter’s Necronomicon quest. Fextralife and graveyard-keeper.wiki describe it as a first conversation at 20 Gunter reputation and a later request at 30; finishing it reveals the technology. So in practice you need to keep raising Gunter’s reputation past the 20 shown on the tech node. Full costs for the rest of the branch are on the tech tree page.
Reanimation Liquid recipe (alchemy)
GK2 alchemy works on rune totals, not fixed recipes: any ingredients whose runes add up to the formula work. Reanimation Liquid needs an exact 2 red, 1 green, 4 blue (Wikily, Fextralife, allthings.how, graveyard-keeper.wiki).
| Example mix | Reported by |
|---|---|
| Clay + Alcohol + Salt (one each) | Fextralife, allthings.how, graveyard-keeper.wiki |
| Tin + Peat + Night flower | Wikily |
| Copper Nugget + Night flower + Night flower | Wikily |
| Ash + Zombie goo + Tin | Player answer on the Steam forum (not cross-checked) |
- Three ingredients. Wikily lists no two-ingredient mix that reaches 2/1/4 — every working mix uses three.
- Study first. You need each ingredient’s runes revealed by studying it at the Study Table, plus flasks and fuel for the lab (Fextralife; graveyard-keeper.wiki).
- Alcohol is distilled separately at the Distillation Cube from Wine, Clay Urns and Fuel — its recipe comes with the same Reanimation Liquid tech (Wikily, Fextralife).
- Salt comes from the Crematorium (allthings.how); the Cremator perk doubles Ash and Salt from Crematorium I and II (Wikily).
- Clay comes from clay spots or a zombie on a Clay Digger Stand (allthings.how, Wikily).
Which laboratory? Sources disagree. Wikily, allthings.how, graveyard-keeper.wiki and a Steam player answer all say Laboratory II, because the recipe needs three ingredient slots. Fextralife says Laboratory I or II. Plan on Laboratory II
How many mixes work? Wikily counts 556 three-ingredient combinations; Fextralife’s combination table lists 124. The lists likely cover different ingredient sets — either way, Clay + Alcohol + Salt appears on both.
How to use Reanimation Liquid to resurrect a zombie
- Open the Resurrection Lab. After Albert’s Sweet Dreams and a night’s sleep, the old door at the back of the morgue opens for 1 Bronze Detail + 1 Melted Fat (gk2db, Fextralife).
- Repair the Resurrection device: 1 Bronze Detail + 2 Wooden Planks, Building mastery 3. This reveals the Reanimation tech (gk2db, GK2Hub, Wikily).
- Build a Resurrection Table I (needs Reanimation): 2 Oiled Planks, 4 Polished Stone and 3 Glass per gk2db and GK2Hub; games.gg lists 4 Glass. Glass count: check build menu
- Prepare a complete corpse. All six vital organs — skull, brain, heart, guts, bones, skin — and no Surgeon’s Error (Wikily, gk2db, games.gg). Plan this before the autopsy.
- Put things in the right place. The collar goes in your backpack; the Reanimation Liquid goes in open storage in the same room as the table — not your backpack (gk2db, GK2Hub, allthings.how). games.gg describes placing both in slots on the table; if the table says liquid is missing, move it to a chest in the room.
- Press Prepare. The collar and liquid are used up immediately, and the table stays locked until the raising (gk2db, GK2Hub).
- Activate the Resurrection device on Envy day. One use raises a zombie on every prepared table, then the lab has no power until the end of the next Lust (Wikily, gk2db). Prepare several tables before Envy to raise several zombies in one week.
Envy or a storm? Wikily, gk2db, GK2Hub, Fextralife and allthings.how all say the lab is powered on Envy, the fourth day of the six-day week (the game only shows a glyph). games.gg instead says resurrection works “during a storm” shown by a snake icon. graveyard-keeper.wiki notes the game’s own Envy event is internally named a storm, so these are probably the same window. A successful Prayer for Storms (unlocked by Reanimation) grants God of the storms, letting you resurrect on any day while it lasts (Wikily, graveyard-keeper.wiki).
How red and white skulls affect the zombie
- Red skulls = perk slots. Each red skull on the corpse opens one perk (talent) slot on the zombie (Wikily, gk2db, games.gg, Fextralife). A zero-red corpse makes a zombie that can hold no perks (graveyard-keeper.wiki). More in Red skull guide.
- The collar must cover the red count. Bronze up to 5, Golden up to 10, Steel up to 99 red skulls; otherwise the table says the collar “isn’t good enough for this corpse” (Wikily, gk2db, Fextralife).
- Collars are swappable upward. A zombie’s collar can later be replaced by one with a higher limit (Wikily, gk2db).
- White skulls: gk2db says the game never reads them for zombies, and games.gg says they have no bearing on zombie performance. Fextralife says fewer white is better. Either way, don’t trade red for white on a worker body.
- Lowering red later costs you. If you remove organs and drop a zombie’s red skulls, its newest upgrades switch off and the spent tech points aren’t refunded (gk2db).
- Raising red: implant red-heavy organs at the Autopsy Table (games.gg), and Solution for Zombies — unlocked by the same Reanimation Liquid tech — is an embalming mix for zombie bodies (Wikily). See Embalming and Zombie prep.
| Collar | Red skull limit | Jewelry Table recipe | Unlocked by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze Zombie Collar | 0–5 | 1 Bronze Ingot, 1 Blue Crystal, 3 Faith | Reanimation |
| Golden Zombie Collar | 0–10 | 1 Golden ingot, 1 Blue Crystal, 5 Faith | Reanimation II |
| Steel Zombie Collar | 0–99 | 1 Steel Ingot, 1 Blue Crystal, 10 Faith | Reanimation III |

Still unverified or disputed
- Laboratory I vs II — most sources say Laboratory II only; Fextralife says either.
- Faith at resurrection — Fextralife and allthings.how list Faith as a resurrection input; graveyard-keeper.wiki says no reliable Faith cost has been published, and Wikily and gk2db only list Faith for crafting collars.
- Zombie limit — Fextralife lists “zombie limit reached” as a blocker; Wikily and gk2db say going over the limit never blocks a resurrection and only gives the Excessive zombies debuff, which cuts sermon payouts.
- Shop price and stock — allthings.how says Gunter sells it for 7 silver and both sellers run out of stock. Not confirmed elsewhere.

FAQ
How do I make Reanimation Liquid in Graveyard Keeper 2?
Research the Reanimation Liquid technology (30 red / 40 green / 50 blue, after Battle Potions II and Gunter’s Necronomicon quest), then mix three ingredients worth 2 red, 1 green and 4 blue runes at the laboratory — Clay + Alcohol + Salt is the common example. Most sources say you need Laboratory II.
Where do I get Reanimation Liquid before I can brew it?
The Resurrection Lab chest has 3 (with 3 Bronze Zombie Collars), and Gunter and the town Alchemist sell it.
The table says I have no Reanimation Liquid, but I’m carrying some.
Put it in open storage (a chest) in the same room as the Resurrection Table. The collar is the opposite — keep it in your backpack.
What day can I resurrect a zombie in GK2?
Envy, once per week, and one device use raises every prepared table. A successful Prayer for Storms lets you resurrect on any day while its buff lasts.
